The Google Forms alternative for collecting testimonials
Google Forms collects responses. It does not record video, host audio, brand the page, or display anything on your site. ProofEcho is what a form tool looks like when it is built for testimonials, not surveys.
Why Google Forms stops working for testimonials
Google Forms is excellent for what it does: collect short responses into a spreadsheet for free. It is also where most early-stage teams start asking for testimonials, because the price is right and they already have a Google account.
The cracks show fast. Customers cannot record a video without leaving the form. Audio is impossible. The page looks like a survey, not your brand. Worst of all, there is no way to display the answers on your website. Every testimonial you collect lives in a row in Sheets, and the page where new buyers are deciding shows them nothing.
What changes when collection and display are one product
- Customers record video and audio testimonials directly in the form, no app or account.
- Every form picks up your brand colour, logo, and font automatically. No more white-and-purple Google chrome.
- Approved testimonials appear on your website through six embed formats (Spotlight Carousel, Double Quote, Hero Quote, Social Proof Popup, Live Activity Toast, Trust Badge). One snippet of code, drops into any site.
- Approval workflow built in. You decide what goes public, per testimonial, with consent flags.
- Email, Slack, and Discord notifications the moment a testimonial arrives.

How to move existing Google Forms responses
Most teams switching from Forms have between 10 and 50 collected responses. The migration takes one focused hour.
- Open your Google Forms responses sheet in Sheets.
- Sign up at ProofEcho free and create your first form.
- Click Add Testimonial in the dashboard. Copy name, role, company, and quote from each row. If you have video file links in Drive, download and re-upload them.
- Mark each as approved. They appear on your widgets and Wall of Love page immediately.
- Replace the Google Forms link in your post-purchase email and dashboard with your new ProofEcho form link.
Quick questions
- Is ProofEcho really free? Yes. The free plan includes 30 testimonials, up to 5 audio and 3 video clips, with no credit card required.
- Will my customers know they are filling out a different form? Yes, in a good way. The form picks up your branding so it feels native to your site, not like a third-party survey tool.
- Can I still use Google Forms for other surveys? Of course. ProofEcho is built specifically for testimonials. Use Forms for everything else.
- What about Google Sheets exports? You can export your ProofEcho testimonials as CSV anytime from the dashboard.
